Himalyan Glaciers Getting Bigger is a Mystery?

Here’s the headline in the Christian Science Monitor….

Global warming mystery: Some Himalayan glaciers getting bigger

While the story comes from Reuters, you have to laugh at their lead in…

The Himalayan glaciers are the planet’s largest bodies of ice outside the polar caps. New research shows some Himalayan glaciers got bigger between 1999-2008

To this we say “no shit Sherlock!” If you look at the below charts you can see that the average rise in temperature starts to flatten out (the curving dash line) and see the start of the downward trend, which prompts us to ask what global warming?

Want more on why this shouldn’t be a big mystery? Look at the arctic ice so far this year. Note the red line (2012) where it meets or slightly exceeds the average from 1979 to 2006, and meets 2010. Again we ask what warming?

The mystery here is why they don’t update the average and instead of 1979 to 2006 make it 1979 to 2012? That’s a 6 year lag!

You can look at the Antarctic below, too. Note there’s nothing to write home to mama about here, either. To be redundant – what warming?

Note the average here is 1979-2008, a little better but still not current in our book. With all the computers and satellites these days we have to again ask why the averages are not more current? 2008 is still a 4 year lag in information. They still using Commodore 64’s or what?

To reiterate, the mysteries to us are and what you should be asking yourselves is:

1. Why the chart average dates aren’t more current? Why do the averages cut off years before now?

2. Why anyone should be surprised that some of the glaciers aren’t melting like some phony computer models show?

3. Why some scientists appear to think the general public is dumber than a rock and continue to foist BS upon us even though it appears there’s no evidence of any catastrophic or unprecedented anything.

Really now, the CO2 is going up and the temperature isn’t, the glaciers aren’t melting and it doesn’t appear the Arctic or Antarctic sea-ice is disappearing either. That should be about all you need to know to comprehend there’s not much of a problem. Yet, we continue to be deluged with heaping, steaming, piles of crap that regardless the weather, claim global warming is unprecedented and that unless we start redistributing the world’s wealth, we’re all gonna die.

Scientists pin down historic sea level rise – with pinheads.

Scientists pin down historic sea level rise – with pinheads. Today we have another in a massive quantity of articles all designed to make you soil your underwear and capitulate to the global warming gods and start donating money to the Goreacle, et al. You can see in the quotes what I’m talkin’ about.

The collapse of an ice sheet in Antarctica up to 14,650 years ago might have caused sea levels to rise between 14 and 18 meters, a study showed on Wednesday, data which could help make more accurate climate change predictions.

Note by stating  this ‘could help make more accurate climate change predictions’ they’ve basically admitted a) that they’re not certain and b) that what they have now sucks, yet you’re supposed to be stupid and buy a house in the mountains so you don’t get flooded. It gets better.

Sea levels have increased on average about 18 centimetres since 1900 and rapid global warming will accelerate the pace of the increase, experts say, putting coastlines at risk and forcing low-lying cities to build costly sea defenses.

Ummm…..yeah, right. 18 centimeters is only about 7 inches over 112 years, which is a whopping 0.0625 inches per year. Yep, I’m heading for the high ground and giving all my worldly possessions to the UN’s IPCC immediately.

Haven’t had enough BS yet? Well, it still gets even better!

Scientists last month said that thinning glaciers and ice caps were pushing up sea levels by 1.5 millimetres a year, and experts forecast an increase of as much as two meters by 2100.

OK, so look at the graphs below. See the Arctic sea-ice? Does it look like it’s disappearing? Nope! It’s increasing! See any thinning? I don’t.

Now here’s a real clear statement.

A very rapid sea level rise is thought to have occurred 14,650 years ago but details about the event have been unclear.

Yes, though things are ‘unclear’ you’re supposed to be a total dumbass and buy into this BS, which show’s you the intelligence of some global warming fans who continue to fan the flames even though someone doused them with a fire hose already.

Regardless, and to further add to the insane things we’re supposed to believe we’d like to know why this is even remotely relevant to anthropogenic global warming? Why? Because sure as the sun shines, there was no man-made global warming 14,650 years ago.

When the Earth Goes Tilt

Tilt! A word associated with pinball games (if anyone remembers what those are) is now associated with the warming and cooling of the planet.

The idea that slight shifts in Earth’s axis might have been enough to trigger the ice ages is a century old.

But a Harvard earth sciences Professor Peter Huybers has finally proved it, using computer models to test competing ideas – and finding that earth’s tilting axis is the only one that works.

So, per this, it’s not that nasty old anthropogenic (man-made) CO2 that certain warmers have been blithering about for decades, it’s the variation of the tilt of the Earth’s axis, something I remember hearing about in grade school about 50 years ago, in pre-Goracle times when kids were taught actual science and didn’t major in Greentard Brainwashing 101.

Two ‘cycles’ in the way Earth’s axis spins have an effect on the cycle – one lasting 10,000 years and one lasting roughly 40,000 years.

When they align correctly, ice melts. At the other extreme, glaciers advance.

‘And at least now we know with greater than 99 percent confidence that shifts in earth’s axis are among the factors that contribute to deglaciation.’

OK. We’re waiting for certain people out there we all know and ‘love’ to capitulate and say ‘oops!’, but we won’t hold our breath.

It’s About Time! It’s AGW Lie Detector Time!

Finally, someone’s going to get the old BS Meter out and see if it exposes any anthropogenic global warming lies over research on polar bears done by Jeffrey Gleason and Charles Monnett. From the Daily Mail:

A wildlife scientist, whose report on dead polar bears in Arctic waters became a rallying call for climate change campaigners, will face a lie detector test as part of an investigation by federal agents.

Jeffrey Gleason, who co-wrote a 2006 report highlighting the danger posed to the animals by melting ice, will take a polygraph over alleged scientific misconduct connected to the study, the Independent reported.

Polar Bears have been around for about 150,000 years now. They have survived two periods over this time when it was 5F to 7F warmer than it is now, yet the paper being investigated makes some rather astronomical claims about polar bear mortality due to global warming. Moreover, the study touted wasn’t even about polar bears, it was based  upon research on bowhead whales, who to my considerable powers of observation don’t have white fur.

So, what is the alleged problem with the paper? From Natural News we get these tidbits:

According to a recent report by Human Events, special investigators from the US government’s Interior Department (ID) have found that a scientific paper published in a 2006 issue of the journal Polar Biologyis filled with baseless assumptions about four specific polar bear deaths— and this eventually became the foundational argument for the fight against global warming. But in reality, the deaths may have had nothing to do with melting ice caps, and everything to do with a simple windstorm.

According to investigators, Monnett’s calculations concerning polar bears’ rate of survival, however, are flawed because he not only failed to verify that the four dead polar bears he witnessed were the same ones that he saw a week prior, but he also allegedly used faulty percentages in the process. As a result, polar bears ended up getting listed as a protected species under the Endangered Species Act, even though they are likely not endangered, and are not dying at the rates to which Monnett had implied.

Believe it or not, this was supposedly peer-reviewed, too. Which is another nail in the coffin regarding the so-called peer review process that goes on with anything to do with global warming. I often wonder if the peer-review process is – if it’s warm it’s hot if it denies it’s not.

This report has also been touted by, guess who? Al Gore of course. It has no doubt prompted many or all of the polar bear photos posted around the internet, in newspapers and magazines that show bears perched upon what are claimed to be shrinking icebergs.

We say if there’s nothing to hide then why all the defensive fuss from the warmer camp? It won’t be long now and we’ll know if scientists lied and polar bears didn’t die. More faux science? More CO2 Insanity? You decide!

Atlasgate: Global warming error? Or was it deliberate?

The Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World 13th edition

Hmmm….another inconvenient error? Or did the Times deliberately embellish how much ice is missing in Greenland?

Publishers of the Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World scrambled Tuesday to correct a controversial statement that Greenland had lost 15 percent of its permanent ice cover over the last 12 years.

That’s an awful lot of missing bullshit I mean ice. So how much was really lost? Oh only a ‘whopping’ 0.1 percent or so. Just a ‘minor’ difference, eh? It gets better. Mea culpa, mea culpa.

“The conclusion that was drawn from this, that 15 percent of Greenland’s once permanent ice cover has melted away, was highlighted in the press release, not in the Atlas itself,” HarpersCollins said in a statement. “This was done without consulting the scientific community and was incorrect.

OK, sounds good on the face of it. We get the old we screwed up  and we’re sorry.  But, it gets even better.

Maintaining the accuracy of the new maps though, may not be enough. When comparing the maps to recent satellite images Christofferson and his team found “numerous glaciers and permanent ice cover where the new Times Atlas shows ice-free conditions and the emergence of new lands.”

You decide! Do you think perhaps someone in the chain of publishing this atlas is a warmer who decided to put some propaganda out and got busted? Or, was it an honest mistake?

More quakes and tsunamis for Japan or elsewhere?

Theories are flying around regarding the causation of the 9.0 Japan earthquake along with predictions of the possibility of more earthquakes for Japan and elsewhere. Below are the ones I found this morning.

  • The head of the Australian Seismological Centre, Kevin McCue, is predicting another quake in the 7.9 range and large enough to cause another tsunami ‘within days,” based on performance of past earthquakes.
  • Piers Corbyn, of Weatheraction,  is attributing the massive Japanese earthquake and the recent killer quake in New Zealand “were triggered by massive events on the Sun and there are more to come in the next two years.”
  • Arcady Tishkov is alluding the causes to “both the moon and the sun.”
  • The warmers, like the BBC were claiming mere hours after the Japanese earthquake that it is (of course) caused by global warming (what else? global warming causes everything according to the warmers).
  • Discover Magazine is saying all the other claims are untrue and any attempts at linking causation and effect are mere coincidences of timing and that earthquakes are really caused by the movement of the Earth’s tectonic plates.
  • Some are blaming it on the “Super Moon” because the moon will soon be at perigee (approximately 220,000 miles), even though that won’t happen until March 19th. (Note the Moon was about 240,000 miles away when the Japanese quake hit).
  • While I can find no articles claiming this as causation for the Japanese earthquake, some are claiming melting glaciers allowing the surface of the Earth to rebound, can cause earthquakes, a concept I find hard to believe as do many others (a roundabout way to blame it upon global warming). From Physorg.com “Glaciers may also cause earthquakes. During the last , the ice sheet was up to 2.5 miles thick. This pushed down on the Earth’s crust, causing a depression. When the weight was lifted due to glacial melting, the depressed crust began to stick-slip on its way back to the pre-depressed elevation.”

There are links to the above claims so you can read for yourself and judge for yourself what you think caused the 9.0 earthquake in Japan.

My take on it is that I don’t know other than I’d bet the farm that global warming, or anything related, had absolutely nothing to do with this or any other recent earthquakes such as the ones in Haiti or New Zealand.

Who knows what that solar energy can cause to happen within the planet and while the claims are that the “Super Moon” has nothing to do with earthquakes either, the moon is powerful enough to cause the tides (that’s a lot of water to be moving around) and is also caused the Earth’s surface to rise and fall by as much as a meter (about 3 feet) per day in some areas. Who knows? Again with that much force exerted upon the planet I certainly wouldn’t dismiss it as at least having a partial effect in causing earthquakes.

If you want an easy way to help you can text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation to help.

Here is a good link to watch Japanese TV (in English) with interviews of locals on what happened. Here is another link, same channel, larger picture.

Now climate change causes cancer

Yes, I didn’t believe it when I read it either, it seems we hit a new low here with things that climate change will cause. Per todays Telegraph we get this headline, which pretty much says it all…..Now scientists claim climate change could give you cancer (in the week Doomsday warning of rising sea levels was rubbished),” which leads me to believe that as a final act of desperation they may claim it causes genital warts. So where’s this cancer coming from? Why it’s those melting glaciers that….ummmmm…aren’t melting!

Melting glaciers and ice sheets are releasing cancer-causing pollutants into the air and oceans, scientists say.

The long-lasting chemicals get into the food chain and build up in people’s bodies – triggering tumours, heart disease and infertility.

The warning comes in a new international study into the links between climate change and a class of man-made toxins called persistent organic pollutants.

Persistent organic pollutants? WTF is that? What? Shit that was outlawed long ago? Hmmmm……

They include pesticides such as DDT and chemicals called PCBs used in electrical goods.

Donald Cooper, of the United Nations Environment Programme which published the report at the UN climate talks in Cancun, Mexico, said melting glaciers and ice sheets were releasing POPs trapped years ago into the air and seas.

OK, so what do the seas have to do with melting glaciers that aren’t melting?

He added: ‘It is a problem in all parts of the world – they do not respect borders. They travel thousands of miles and they continue to build.

‘In the past pollutants have travelled long distances and become trapped in ice in glaciers and ice sheets. But as the ice melts, or when temperatures go up, they are released back into the seas and atmosphere.

They travel thousands of miles? Do they have little cars or planes that carry them around? Please tell me how could this happen. According to the warmistas the glaciers have been melting since the 1850 start of the industrial revolution. Now with all the melting how could this be trapped in glaciers? But wait! They’re not melting either? Which is it? Talk about talking out of both sides of your ass, this has to be it.

You can read the rest of this bullshit at the source below. They just keep getting more desperate and keep sinking further and further into CO2 Insanity don’t they?

OOPS! Glaciers increasing per UN

More truth that is stranger than the IPCC’s, UN’s and warmer’s fiction. From the Telegraph we get this headline ‘Cancun climate change summit: glaciers increasing despite climate change.’ Yes, that’s right, we keep hearing about all these glaciers that are melting away any second now due to anthropogenic global warming, yet here we have glaciers that are increasing in size. Must be more of that cooling that’s caused by warming which seems in violation of the laws of thermodynamics to say the least.

Glaciers have grown in western Norway, New Zealand’s South Island, parts of Asia and the Tierra del Fuego in South America.

Of course the powers that be have to try to minimize this finding with their usual BS.

However, overall ice and snow on mountains has been retreating since the industrial age, according to scientists from around the world.

In some regions, it is very likely that glaciers will largely disappear by the end of this century, whereas in others ice cover will persist but in a reduced form for many centuries to com

Actually they’ve been retreating since the last ice-age was over thousands of years ago, but don’t let real science get in the way of a good line of bullshit about how global warming’s going to turn the South Pole into Lower Miami any day now.

This report underlines a global trend, observed over many decades now in some parts of the globe, which has short and long-term implications for considerable numbers of people….

Yes it underlines a ‘global trend’ alright. The ‘global trend’ of anthropogenic bullshit about anthropogenic global warming. Yet more CO2 Insanity.

IPCC will ‘probably’ make more mistakes

Here’s another slam at the IPCC, home of the Himalayan glaciers that will melt by 2035 and other assorted climate faux pas. Today the Telegraph has a story titled “IPCC will ‘probably’ make more mistakes’ which you can read here.

Professor Jean-Pascal van Ypersele conceded that the IPCC had been “naive and incompetent” in its handling of the incorrect claim that every glacier in the Himalayas could be melted by 2035, and accepted that there “probably would be mistakes” in a larger report scheduled for 2013-14.

Well, with Rajendra Pachauri hanging on as chair, I’d assume it may be rife with mistakes.

But he added that criticism prior to the climate change conference in Copenhagen had been “organised” in a cynical attempt to hamper attempts to address global warming.

Here we go with the conspiracy excuse factory again. Heaven forbid someone should just plainly and openly admit they screwed up big time. I mean it wasn’t only the 2035 glacier melt, we had other errors such as using non-peer reviewed data, not providing any information on how likely some of their scenarios were, hiding out when questions were asked, making claims based upon computer models that have no basis in reality,  having a “bunker” mentality and other assorted goofs.

If you want an idea of how far this guy’s  head is up his ass read this one……

He told The Guardian: “How could it simply be a coincidence that the ‘climategate’ emails are revealed two weeks before Copenhagen and that the mistake on the Himalayas is raised and transformed by some media into major error?”

See how he acts like that was the only error in the report? I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Obviously the good Professor is clueless or refuses to admit the real deal. Then he goes on to bring up the old tobacco bullshit.

He added: “It is a very similar process to what the tobacco industry was doing 30 or 40 years ago, when they wanted to delay legislation.”

Damn! These guys can’t even come up with anything original and yet we’re supposed to believe they have anthropogenic global warming figured out to a “t,” which is laughable to say the least.

The only thing this guy has right is that the IPCC had been “naïve and incompetent” and that there “probably would be mistakes.” That was so simple to figure out that a caveman could do it.

Satellitegate Update by John O’Sullivan

Satellitegate US Agency Faces Courtroom Climate Showdown

The controversy over ‘Satellitegate’ hots up as NOAA faces a court appearance for refusing to release evidence that would show whether one or more US satellites exagerrated global warming temperatures.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a federal agency focused on reporting the condition of the oceans and the atmosphere. When the story first broke NOAA bizarrely announced it would withdraw satellite ‘images’ from its archives but failed to state whether reams of cooked data had also been withdrawn.

An official US Government statement last July confirmed that the NOAA-16 earth orbiting satellite used to measure surface temperatures suffered failure due to a “degraded” sensor system. But skeptics now fear that because government climate scientists won’t answer any more questions or reveal the discredited data archives they may be guilty of fraudulently cooking the books to show super boiling temperatures.

The story broke after an anonymous member of the public contacted a skeptic blog when he stumbled across thousands of alarming readings on a government website. The website showed thousands of surface temperatures of over 400 degrees fahrenheit. Dubbed Satellitegate the shocking revelations proved that all such bogus data had been fed automatically into data banks that the US Government then sold all over the world.

As proprietary temperature data products the junk numbers were used by domestic and international weather and climate researchers. Fears are growing that the junk data may have contaminated scores of climate models worldwide and artificially increased average global warming records by several degrees.

In the three months since the story hit the news NOAA still hasn’t come clean as to the  true extent of the data contamination. Now it may be necessary for lawyers to file an official Freedom of Information request (FOIA) to compel the government, under federal legislation, to stop the cover up and reveal the truth.

US Government Has History of Breaking Law over Satellite Failures

This won’t the first time NOAA has cynically broken the law to hide embarrasing satellite problems. In 2008 desmogblog.com became embroiled in a similar FOIA confrontation- see ‘NOAA Stonewalls on DCSOVR Documents.’ It is believed that the DCSOVR satellite costing over $100 million may be cannabalised to destroy incriminating evidence that NOAA and NASA were conspiring to prevent the launch of that satellite because it would prove the numbers from other such sources were fake.

As desmogblog.com reports, “DSCOVR is designed to view the planet from the unique vantage point of one million miles distant, and according to leading researchers would immediately settle any remaining debate on the origins or seriousness of global warming.”

Degraded Climate Data Knowingly Sold for Over Five Years

Among the questions NOAA still hasn’t answered are: (1.) how long did NOAA knowingly sell to its network of international customers (mostly government weather and climate researchers) ‘degraded’ data and, (2.) why was no action taken until the story caused a public outcry five years after prominent climate researchers first made the faults known?

Sadly, some commentators on this issue omit to consider that it is common practice in corruption cases for conspirators to shroud their malevolence in the cloak of incompetence. To be fair to the commentator in question he has since publicly conceded, “But, I don’t know the full story.”

How the Law Addresses Corruption

Too often, those with little or no legal experience fail to address whether the alleged perpetrators have the means, motive and opportunity to engage in such conspiratorial acts. Willful ignorance of the facts and/or the law are recurrent themes in government corruption cases on which I’ve worked in both the UK and New York.

Courts must look for the mens rea (guilty mind) component of the wrongful act in conjunction with the actus reus (the rotten deed itself) otherwise, quite rightly, they will never convict.

Lawyers defending the indefensible will often resort to that hoary old chestnut of applying the “merely negligent” gambit to get government workers off serious charges. I have heard endlessly over the years from defense attorneys that we should “never presume malice where simple incompetence will do.” To the raw, untrained eye it often works.

Indeed, there is no prerequisite to doubt such an affirmative defense when there is the absence of any pattern of “error” because it is that pattern of repeated errors that leads to the guilty. What becomes apparent in good fraud cases is that the evidence always displays a pattern- a predictable sequence- of “errors” that go way beyond mere chance.

The Question that NOAA Still Won’t Answer

What makes the Satellitegate controversy so intriguing are three simple questions:

Why do the thousands of high temperature “errors”  favor the alarmist (thus government) case?

2. Why were such “errors” only acknowledged by the US government when the story became big news?

3. Why won’t NOAA answer my follow on questions and release all the facts?

Invariably, apologists for science fraud often refer to systemic “errors” as nothing more serious than simple laboratory “selection bias” – and it sure is! Those involved only see what suits them. However, as we have seen in correspondingly substantial frauds (e.g. multi-billion dollar Madoff scandal and sub-prime mortgages) such “error” bias profits the individual or the organisation that crunched the numbers.

When that link between conscious act and subsequent gain becomes clear then it constitutes criminal fraud. Often when such cases are proved you’ll hear those same sanctimonious words uttered by apologists, “lessons will be learned” and they sure are – particularly lessons as to how best to mitigate being caught in the future!

How Self-preservation instinct leads to Conspiracy to Commit Fraud

As I have seen in courtrooms, many middle ranking officers, those loyal lieutenants, often rally behind the misdeeds of their superiors because they are clearly motivated by misplaced self-preservation in a process of ‘CYA.’  You “cover your ass” and concomitantly, by such a survival strategy you also cover the behinds of colleagues by wagon circling as a group. You know full well that your undoubted strength in numbers increases your own personal chances of avoiding censure/prosecution.

So how do anti-corruption specialists prove malfeasance/fraud under the civil burden of “the preponderance of the evidence?” Well, ultimately we need to demonstrate a good probability that X , Y or Z are unlikely to be merely incompetent time after time when their repeated errors favor only one outcome as opposed to a random one. When it becomes statistically improbable that such “errors” could be down to chance alone, that’s when a jury convicts.

What those without legal training also often fail to grasp are two key concepts that courts must address that may be fatal for those implicated parties:

Omission-conscious failure to positively remedy a known error is malfeasance and may thus constitute conspiracy to commit fraud;

Loss or destruction of evidence by any party subject to an FOIA constitutes evidence abuse which is dealt with by the spoliation doctrine (i.e. the offending party is sanctioned under law because the law states that a party shall be punished when it ought to anticipate legal proceedings-thus securing conviction by default judgment).[1.]

The worst evidence of hyper-inflated global warming data that I found was on a web page entitled, ‘Michigan State University Remote Sensing & GIS Research and Outreach Services.’ When I contacted NOAA for further information I was denied by their lawyers. Is this necessary if we are talking about a non-problem over trivial errors of data no one uses? Does that smell of negligence or more of fraud? Taxpayers have a right to know what evidence has now become conveniently “lost” or destroyed.

NOAA and MSU have effectively blocked further access to all associated data preventing my associates and me from analyzing it to identify if there is any case to answer.  We merely want NOAA to address the following:

Since removing ‘images’ from their archives has NOAA or its Sea Watch partners taken steps to also remove infected ‘data’ from their archives?
When did NOAA/Sea Watch Partners first know of this problem?
Has NOAA and/or Sea Watch partners ascertained the scope and extent of this data error and what action (i) has been (ii) will be taken to avoid any further recurrence?
Has NOAA/Sea Watch partners identified whether satellite data temperature anomalies impact other data sets and findings including global climate models?
Why has NOAA sinisterly removed all entries for the NOAA-16 subsystem log about the satellite’s health and performance from 2005 onwards when such entries were cleared displayed online up to the date of my first ‘Satellitegate’ article?
Were there errors also made in the NOAA-16 subsystem log that is a totally unconnected process to that of the degraded sensor.
Will NOAA preserve/provide my investigators and me with the details of all the aforementioned data no longer displayed online, plus all associated data that may be relevant to investigations into the ‘Satellitegate’ controversy?
Does NOAA continue to feed automated ‘degraded’ satellite data into its proprietary products that are bought by weather and climate researchers around the world?
Why has NOAA not given any official notifications to (i) it’s paying customers and (ii) the public via its website/publications of the NOAA-16 faults despite Drs. Roy Spencer and John Curry making it known since 2005 that data was no longer reliable?

What Are the Public Left to Think Now?

As any competent government corruption attorney will tell you, repeated errors constitute malfeasance when a continuous and unrelenting omission to address a known sequence of data ‘degradations’ can be judged to be nothing short of a conscious and willful act.

Moreover, when there is also the intentional failure to divulge the evidence that would prove conscious intent not to correct a fault in your favor then that is also proof of fraud. Thus, a group of those who knew of the errors and collectively and consciously failed to act are as guilty of conspiracy to defraud as those who perpretrated the original wrong. Bankers have been jailed for less, why aren’t climate scientists?
