Bangladesh BS!

Here we go again with another IPCC Report problem.  According to this article, scientist in Bangladesh say Banglabullshit to the IPCC Report that states that 17% of Bangladesh will be flooded by 2050 from a one meter (3 foot) rise in sea-level.  You can see what their expectations are per the chart.

DHAKA (AFP) – Scientists in Bangladesh posed a fresh challenge to the UN’s top climate change panel Thursday, saying its doomsday forecasts for the country in the body’s landmark 2007 report were overblown.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), already under fire for errors in the 2007 report, had said a one-metre (three-foot) rise in sea levels would flood 17 percent of Bangladesh and create 20 million refugees by 2050.

They accuse the IPCC of using this report to stir things up about global warming.  Notice the term “consensus” which is how they prefer to have their “science” “proven” vs. scientific reality.

The warning helped create a widespread consensus that the low-lying country was on the “front line” of climate change, but a new study argues the IPCC ignored the role sediment plays in countering sea level rises.

Sediment?  Hmmm…so what do they have to say about that?

But the IPCC’s prediction did not take into account the one billion tonnes of sediment carried by Himalayan rivers into Bangladesh every year, the study funded by the Asian Development Bank said.

“Sediments have been shaping Bangladesh’s coast for thousands of years,” said Maminul Haque Sarker, director of the Dhaka-based Center for Environment and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS), who led research for the study.

Previous “studies on the effects of climate change in Bangladesh, including those quoted by the IPCC, did not consider the role of sediment in the growth and adjustment process of the country?s coast and rivers,” he told AFP.

Even if sea levels rise a maximum one metre in line with the IPCC’s 2007 predictions, the new study indicates most of Bangladesh’s coastline will remain intact, said Sarker.

Yes, I’d say a billion tons might just have some kind of effect on things there.

I lost count of how many mistakes are in IPCC4, suffice to say, it’s way too many and the more they find the more I have the impression this is not a scientific document, it’s more like a Science Fiction Novel designed to scare the hell out of everyone so we’ll all start paying carbon taxes to save the earth.

“Based on the findings of the study, it appears that most of Bangladesh?s coastline, notably the Meghnaestuary, which is one of the largest in the world, would rise at the same pace as the sea level growth,” he said.

“The study shows that the inundation and flooding pattern of Bangladesh will change due to the sea level rise, but it will be less than what has been predicted,” by the IPCC and others, he said.

Pachauri is still throwing his “one single error” out there hoping it will stick to the wall.  If there were only one error the IPCC, Pachauri and all their buddies wouldn’t be having all the problems they’re facing regarding all the “mistakes”,  lies, misstatements, altered data, missing data, “tricks”, etc., that seem to increase almost on a daily basis.

One guy even actually admits they didn’t take this into account, kudos to him.

Atiq Rahman, a Dhaka-based member of the panel, admitted to AFP that the panel’s research on Bangladesh had “not taken into account the role the sediment plays in shaping Bangladesh’s coast and estuaries.”

Do these guys ever take into consideration what the effects of their fantasies are?  I mean who would want to build anything in Bangladesh? Why would any big business want to spend capital building factories in Bangladesh if they believe IPCC 4 and figure it will be a waste of time and money because it will be underwater before they get a return on their investment?  Why would the country want to invest in much-needed infrastructure if it’s going submarine in 40 years?

This also nicely explains the “disappearing” island the warmers were touting as proof of global warming awhile back.  The reason it disappeared wasn’t due to rising sea-levels from global warming as the “alarmists” would like you to believe. It was an island made of sediment, that appeared from a buildup of sediment and disappeared due to sediment washing away.  A normal cycle of things in delta areas. 1 billion tons of sediment tends to do things like this.  For all anyone knows the island could build up again over a period of time and reappear. What will the “warmers” say about that?  Probably they’ll try to figure some way to blame that on global warming, too.

Gore and Hansen Wrong on Sea-Level Rise

Captain_Nemo_FSMCD1208This is a picture from a movie about Captain Nemo of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea fame.  Well according to some real scientist, we won’t be needing to move into a submarine or build any underwater cities, which is what “alarmists” Al Gore and James Hansen would like you to believe will happen by the end of the century, caused, of course, by global warming and CO2.

According to Gore’s movie “An Inconvenient Truth”, the sea could rise 20 feet.  Per James Hansen of GISS the sea will be rising more than 5 meters.  Here’s the quote from Hansen below…

As an example, let us say that ice sheet melting adds 1 centimetre to sea level for the decade 2005 to 2015, and that this doubles each decade until the West Antarctic ice sheet is largely depleted. This would yield a rise in sea level of more than 5 metres (16 feet) by 2095.

I picked up on this article from C3 today:  32 Ocean Scientists Trash The Gore and James Hansen Sea-Level Rise Predictions: The Myth Rejected. They link to a paper on CO2 Science. Per them…

The experts in seas/oceans estimate a potential 4.7 inch to 39 inch rise over 21st century – this is certainly a sea level rise range that humans can deal with, easily. And, most significantly, this is a range based on historical sea levels that actually occurred during past warmer periods. What does this tell us? The true experts are predicting a maximum sea level rise far below the non-expert opinions (propagandist myths) of fanatical warming activists, such as Gore and Hansen.

That is a far, far cry from 16 to 20 feet.  We’re talking less than 1/2 foot to a little over 3 feet.  Quite a difference form 15 to 20 feet or more!

To simplify what these scientist did, is they looked at past data from when the climate was similar and looked at what the actual sea-level rise then…

Turning to the IPCC — the most recent report of which predicts a global warming of somewhere between 1.1 and 6.3°C for the 21st century — the PALSEA group writes that “the last time that a global warming of comparable magnitude occurred was during the termination of the last glacial period,” which consisted of “a series of short, sharp steps on millennial to centennial timescales.” Hence, they looked at what is known about sea level change during the Bolling-Allerod and post-Younger Dryas/early Holocene periods, because they say “the magnitude and rate of warming during these periods are most closely analogous to the magnitude and rate of anthropogenic warming [that is predicted to occur] over the coming centuries;” and this comparison ruled out any type of exponentially increasing sea level response, pointing more towards an asymptotic response, where the sea level rise is high initially but gradually levels off.

Realistically, their study states it will take a lot longer than a century for any significant rise to occur.  Even the IPCC predicted only -0.01 to 0.17 m over the century.

Regardless which one you believe, either one easily proves that Gore and Hansen are full of alarmist bullshit designed to freak-out the average person so they’ll donate money to prevent it and move into caves with hot and cold running bats to save the earth.

Well, at least it’s one CO2 Insanity episode put to bed by a dose of reality.

CO2 Causes Attack of the Triffids!

Here’s an amazing video I picked up from this piece at I Hate the Media that was released by the EPA to show how plants grow with different levels of CO2 Insanity.

I am waiting for the IPCC to issue a new report that CO2 and Global Warming will soon cause all life on Earth to end because we’ll be attacked by The Triffids.  You can see Triffids in the video below.

I don’t know about you, but I’m stocking up on Roundup Weed Killer and garden sprayers immediately.

Pachauri: What? Me worry?

Per The Hindustan Times in this article Pachauri rules out stepping down even if UN panel finds fault…

Stating that the IPCC will make efforts to ensure that its fifth assessment report carries no errors, its chairman R K Pachauri has ruled out stepping down even if the UN-constituted review committee finds faults in the procedures followed by the climate panel.

Sounds like a case of “I have a fat head” and “I am perfect” rolled into one asshole.

To a poser on whether it was a system failure, he maintained it was more of a “procedural failure” and said, “We will do everything humanly possible to ensure that the error in the fourth report is not there in the fifth report.”

“Absolutely”, was his reply to a question on whether one single failure was being ‘taken out of proportion’.

“Absolutely. One error does not dilute the findings of the IPCC that the glaciers are melting,” he said.

One single failure? One error? That’s all? What’s this guy smoking?  Here’s a site with 54 errors form the 4th IPCC Report!  One error?  Also, let us not forget his ties to TATA, who got £2 Billion for closing the last steel making plant in the UK.

This guy needs to go, he has no credibility, except in his own delusional mind.

Volcanos Hot – CO2 Not

mtetna01Per an article by John O’Sullivan on Suite 101 a new study proves volcanos are hot and CO2 is not!

Global warming and acid oceans have been blamed on greenhouse gases from human fossil fuels. Now growing evidence proves Mother Nature is the most likely cause.

Mother nature?  Not AGW?

A study by Australian geology researcher, Timothy Casey disproves the recent claims by alarmist environmentalists that man-made emissions of carbon dioxide have been causing ocean acidification.

Oops!  What? No acidification?

These disturbing claim has been perplexing geologists, among other researchers, that have failed to detect any increase in acidification in the word’s rivers, lakes, reservoirs and aquariums.

So CO2 is so selective it gets into the world’s oceans, but ignores lakes, streams, rivers, reservoirs, aquariums, not to mention my hot tub? Yeah right!

This study supports what we’re talking about now.

Researchers have looked again at the numbers obtained by oceanographers (i.e. Hillier & Watts (2007)) that surveyed 201,055 submarine volcanoes. From this they concluded an astounding total of 3,477,403 submarine volcanoes must reasonably exist worldwide. They based this finding on the earlier and well-respected observations of Batiza (1982) who found that at least 4 per cent of seamounts are active volcanoes.

As per the usual the IPCC conveniently ignores all these volcanos and cherry picks data to fit their AGW theory…

None of the more than 2,000 active submarine volcanoes have even been discussed in Kerrick (2001), a paper referred to by the IPCC and used to eliminate volcanoes as an important factor in Co2 output into the atmosphere.

Furthermore, Kerrick (2001) justifies the omission of mid oceanic ridge emissions by claiming that mid oceanic ridges discharge less Co2 than is consumed by mid oceanic ridge hydrothermal carbonate systems. There is no evidence to support such a conclusion.

There seems to be increasing volcanic activity, too.

Casey’s study looked at examples such as the Blue Lake in the crater of dormant volcano, Mount Gambier now acidifying due to volcanogenic CO2 input. It lies in the regional centre of the Limestone Coast in the South East of South Australia. It has now been found Mount Gambier is not quite so dormant as some alarmist studies suggested. If this fact was repeated world-wide then it would dispel concerns that human emitted greenhouse gases were the cause of rising levels of sea acidity. The real culprit seems to have been Nature all along.

(I will add that similar is occurring in the Mammoth Mountain area in California  There are areas where gases are seeping out of the ground and killing trees and other vegetation.  More evidence of CO2 venting into the atmosphere).

The conclusion is therefore becoming very clear that atmospheric carbon dioxide can not be the cause of oceanic acidification as we once thought. Thus we may fairly infer it is a non-problem.

In addition to this I have always wondered why they measure CO2 on Mauna Loa because it’s an active volcano.  I wonder how much this inflates the amount of CO2 they claim is in the atmosphere?

Yet another faux pas by the IPCC and their buddies.  The lies just keep on coming.

Finally! Something NOT Blamed on Global Warming.

According to this article from Catholic Online Italy may be facing a big kaboom that may cause a big tsunami.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) – According to Enzo Boschi, president of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, the Marsili is bursting with magma and has fragile walls that are in danger of collapse at any moment.

“Our latest research shows that the volcano is not structurally solid, its walls are fragile, the magma chamber is of sizeable dimensions,” Boschi says. “All that tells us that the volcano is active and could begin erupting at any time.”

An eruption would result in “a strong tsunami that could strike the coasts of Campania, Calabria and Sicily,” Boschi says. “A rupture of the walls would let loose millions of cubic meters of material capable of generating a very powerful wave.”

2010030313marsili Volcano ItalyThis is one big volcano, too!  But it’s been awhile since it blew its top.

However – it must be pointed out that the Marsili, 9,800 feet tall and located some 90 miles southwest of Naples, has not erupted since the start of recorded history.

Unlike the AGW crowd they don’t try to predict things.

“While the indications that have been collected are precise, it is impossible to make predictions. The risk is real but hard to evaluate,” Boschi adds.

I guess the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology doesn’t have a crystal ball with futurevision inside like the IPCC does.  The best thing about this is they DIDN’T blame it on Anthropogenic Global Warming!

Pachauri Sings "I've Got Big Balls"

pachauri1Is this who AC/DC wrote that song about?  The Great Dr. Pachauri?  The guy in charge of the IPCC? Whose report said the glaciers in the Himalayas would melt by 2035?  He must really has some big balls!  While he’s under investigation he’s singing…

I’ve got big balls
I’ve got big balls
They’re such big balls
And they’re dirty big balls
And he’s got big balls
And she’s got big balls
(But we’ve got the biggest balls of them all)

Based on this article in Times Online.

The outspoken chairman of the UN’s climate change body is to adopt a neutral advisory role and has agreed to stop making statements demanding new taxes and other radical policies on cutting emissions.

He also apologised for describing as “voodoo science” an Indian Government report which challenged the IPCC’s claims about the rapid melting of Himalayan glaciers.

My how magnanimous of him.  Sure he apologizes, now that he’s backed into a corner and the Co2 gravy train is about to end.

Here’s part of why I say he has big balls.

But Dr Pachauri, 70, rejected calls for his resignation and insisted he would remain as chairman until after publication of the IPCC’s next report in 2014.

He gets caught red-handed yet still refuses to resign.  What a guy.

“It is not correct to say there are people who don’t trust me,” he said.

So there are people who do trust him? I’ll bet that’s a short list if there ever was one!

Now here’s some really big balls!

Dr Pachauri said he wanted more power over the IPCC secretariat and an extra $1million (£671,000) a year to fund its work, on top of the $5million it already receives. The IPCC is planning to recruit more spin-doctors to help it promote its work and defend itself against attacks by climate sceptics. Dr Pachauri said that at present the organisation is “terribly ill-equipped” to communicate with the world’s media.

OK, so it’s I screwed up, I got caught red-handed, I tried to cover things up, but give me more money.  Can you believe it?   DIRTY BIG BALLS if there ever were any! Sounds like Wall Street…’ummmmm…. sorry I bankrupted the company but do I still get my $20 million bonus this year?’

Then, after all this he even has the audacity to claim he’s not making any money from all of this!

He rejected claims that he had personally profited from the many contracts he has to advise companies on climate change. All the money went to the charitable research institute which he heads, he said. He gave The Times a copy of his 2008-09 income tax return which showed earnings of £44,600.

A KPMG report into his financial relationship with The Energy and Resources Institute concluded: “No evidence was found that indicated personal fiduciary benefits accruing to Dr Pachauri from his various advisory roles that would have led to a conflict of interest.”

I wonder if one should beleive KPMG?  Based on these articles I would wonder.

KPMG to Pay $456 Million for Criminal Violations

KPMG Allowed Fraud at New Century, Report Says

Here’s a nice article in Telegraph.co.uk regarding his financial conflicts of interest and here’s the open letter (PDF) from Lord Monckton to Pachauri about his screw-ups.  You can read them and form your own opinion about this guy.  I think he needs to go.
