Windpowergate – Massive Pollution Making Wind Turbines

From the Daily Mail we get an item that shows that in addition to being bird-choppers, eyesores, needing subsidization, being immensely inefficient (no wind no power) and creating noise that can drive local residents to abandon their houses, they also create a lot of pollution during the manufacturing process.

On the outskirts of one of China’s most polluted cities, an old farmer stares despairingly out across an immense lake of bubbling toxic waste covered in black dust. He remembers it as fields of wheat and corn.

Yes all you greentards, this is an environmental disaster that is being created to make investors rich and greentards all touchy-feely-feel-goody.

Live has uncovered the distinctly dirty truth about the process used to extract neodymium: it has an appalling environmental impact that raises serious questions over the credibility of so-called green technology.

The reality is that, as Britain flaunts its environmental credentials (and creates big eyesores – editor) by speckling its coastlines and unspoiled moors and mountains with thousands of wind turbines, it is contributing to a vast man-made lake of poison in northern China. This is the deadly and sinister side of the massively profitable rare-earths industry that the ‘green’ companies profiting from the demand for wind turbines would prefer you knew nothing about.

Hidden out of sight behind smoke-shrouded factory complexes in the city of Baotou, and patrolled by platoons of security guards, lies a five-mile wide ‘tailing’ lake. It has killed farmland for miles around, made thousands of people ill and put one of China’s key waterways in jeopardy.

This vast, hissing cauldron of chemicals is the dumping ground for seven million tons a year of mined rare earth after it has been doused in acid and chemicals and processed through red-hot furnaces to extract its components.

You can read all about how being green is turning the water green (and other assorted colors) at the source below. This is an abomination and certainly one of the biggest cases of CO2 Insanity I have seen. The article goes into great detail about what is going on in China and I’d urge you to read the whole thing regardless what side of the global warming debate you are on.

Britain – Green on CO2 Brown on Sewage

Want to go swimming here?

Next time you’re at the beach in Britain, that “German BrownTrout” you see swimming past my actually be a different type of “German Brown.”

Britain, willing to spend untold billions on CO2, with recycling laws so silly they threatened to lock up a 95 year old grandma because she put  a butter tub in the wrong recycling bin, but evidently they literally “don’t give a shit” about what’s turning their water that familiar shade of brown.

Per this article, “Beaches Polluted 5 Times a Day,” from Times Online we get some more CO2 Insanity.

THE scandal of Britain’s dirty seas is revealed this weekend with evidence that raw sewage is being pumped up to five times a day into areas where holidaymakers swim and paddle. And the tag “the dirty man of Europe” looms again after Britain was ranked 18th out of 22 European countries for beach cleanliness.

The Sunday Times has obtained an Environment Agency database revealing tens of thousands of previously undisclosed sewage spills into bathing waters. It reveals:

One overflow sewer pipe at East Looe, southeast Cornwall, was operated 94 times during the summer of 2008, including five discharges in a 24-hour period in July.

Three sewage overflow pipes at Combe Martin in north Devon operated more than 70 times during the 2008 season and more than 50 times in 2009. During one test, there were 23,400 faecal bacteria per 100 millilitres of water, compared with a recommended level for the cleanest beaches of 100 bacteria or fewer.

There were almost 19,000 raw sewage and floodwater spills recorded on the south coast in 2008-9, from Kent to Hampshire. Three sewage overflow pipes on the Isle of Wight were operated more than 100 times each in 2008.

Water companies have invested more than £80 billion since privatisation, and the cleanliness of coastal waters has improved dramatically in the past two decades. However, seaside water quality has declined in the past few years because of sewage from the overflows.

Forget the SPF 30 sunscreen, We have anti-bacterial soap, evidently we now need anti-bacterial sunscreen.

Seems rather insane they worry about CO2 while it’s obviously more dangerous to go swimming.

Coal Stays On in UK or Blackouts will Occur

Well, so much for all that wonderful wind and solar that’s going to save us all from non-existent anthropogenic global warming, or man-made climate change, or whatever term you prefer to use. Seems the UK can’t shut down it’s coal-fired plants or they’ll have a gigantic power shortage.  Per this article from Telegraph.co.uk

A number of old coal combustion stations were due to close in 2014, putting the UK in danger of running out of power in the second half of this decade.

Experts had warned that taking this back-up generation off the system before nuclear power plants are built would risk an “energy gap” and potential black-outs.

Of course they try and place the blame on the power company lobbyists, but the reality is no coal generated power means you’re not going to be watching TV, heating your house, playing on your PC and perhaps not even working, unless you’re a grave-digger with a shovel and pick.

But furious lobbying by UK energy companies forced the EU to back down on its directive on Tuesday, with MEPs on the body’s environmental committee voting to recommend that the power stations another four years of life.

One regulatory source said British lobbyists had put by far the most pressure on the EU to re-think its rules, warning that the UK would simply have to flout the law if no changes were made.

Ian Parrett, an energy consultant at Inenco, welcomed the decision, saying that the previous timescale “simply wasn’t realistic and threatened the UK’s energy security.

But he warned against complacency about the UK’s energy needs, with around £200bn of investment in new generation and networks needed by 2020.

“A postponement will at least provide breathing time,” he said. “But even with the delay, any new Government will face energy as one of its top priorities to avoid a looming energy gap casting a shadow over any economic recovery.”

It isn’t the easy task to convert things as some who desperately want to believe.  It takes planning and time.  You can’t put millions of people in the dark or you’re going to have some massive problems as they will justifiably be pissed-off.

It isn’t cheap either, it’s estimated the UK needs to invest $200 billion pounds by 2020 just to keep up with the demand.  There go your taxes up…up…and…away, not to mention your power bill.
